For Italian craft brewery 32 Via dei Birrai, the bottle has always been part of the product.
Working with Verallia Italia, the brewery developed an elegant, minimal glass bottle designed to reflect its identity, give the beer a distinctive presence and add thoughtful details that can be experienced by touch.
It is a good example of what happens when glassmaking expertise and a strong brand idea come together.
A craft beer that looks different
32 Via dei Birrai was founded in Pederobba, in north-eastern Italy, in 2006 by three friends who wanted to approach craft brewing differently.
That ambition extends beyond the beer itself. From the beginning, design has been part of the way the brewery presents its products and creates its own identity.
For its bottle, the team worked with Verallia Italia on a design that feels simple, refined and recognisable.

Where brand meets glass
A DISTINCTIVE BOTTLE
The bottle comes from Verallia’s Selective Line, the group’s international high-end range.
Selective Line gives brands access to different shapes, colours, engravings and decoration techniques, with the aim of creating bottles that fit their individual brand universe.
For 32 Via dei Birrai, the result is deliberately understated: an elegant silhouette that lets the beer and the brewery’s identity do the talking.

DESIGN YOU CAN FEEL
The bottle also includes Braille lettering embossed directly into the glass.
32 Via dei Birrai describes it as the first beer bottle it developed with raised Braille text. The initiative is linked to its support for a school for blind children run by the Lucia Guderzo Foundation.
Here, a design detail is not simply decorative. It adds another way to experience the bottle.

Simple by design
The brewery wanted a bottle that felt distinctive without becoming overcomplicated.
The bottle that Verallia proposed for our beer is elegant and minimal.
Alessandro Zilli, co-founder, 32 Via dei Birrai
That simplicity leaves room for the details to matter. The shape, the glass and the tactile lettering all contribute to the same visual language.
What makes the design work?
A recognisable bottle can become part of the way consumers identify a beer before they even read the label.
For a craft brewery, that gives the packaging a role beyond protection. It helps create consistency across the whole product experience.
A partnership built around design
Verallia develops glass packaging with brands through both standard collections and custom projects. Its Selective Line range currently includes more than 300 standard references across wine, spirits, beer, soft drinks and oils.
The collaboration with 32 Via dei Birrai shows what that approach can look like on a real product. Instead of treating the bottle as a final layer around the beer, the two teams made it part of the brand from the start.
The result feels coherent because each element has a role: a simple shape, a premium finish and a tactile detail with a genuine purpose.

Good packaging starts with a good fit
There is no single formula for a distinctive glass bottle.
For 32 Via dei Birrai, the right answer was a restrained design with enough personality to feel its own, supported by a detail that makes the bottle more inclusive.
That is where packaging creates real value for a brand: not by adding more, but by making the material, design and product feel like they belong together.
